The magnificent Harpy Eagle is one of the largest on Mother Earth. Recently sighted in a rainforest in southern Mexico where it was believed to be locally extinct, Indigenous communities and conservationists wholeheartedly celebrate the critically endangered raptor's presence. Through a special educational program, local participants engage in regular field visits and wildlife monitoring. They've receive training and equipment to aid in the effort. Harpy Eagles face pressure from logging and agricultural expansion. Their food web is threatened too. Creatures like monkeys and sloths that they rely on for food must be protected as well. Plant and animal nutrition that monkeys and sloths count on are also necessary for their survival. Trees are absolutely vital to nesting Harpy Eagles. Clive Hustito's perched Harpy Eagle has been sculpted from marble to a size of approximately 5" tall, 3 1/4" wide and 2 3/8" long. Wise eyes are from turquoise set to a beautifully turned head.
