Lionel Sanchez, Jr. is the son of carver Lionel Sanchez. A parent Owl is sculpted from tufa which is a type of porous volcanic stone. Tufa can be found in areas of ancestral Puebloan land that is now Bandelier National Monument in New Mexico. The small owlets nestled in the breast feathers of their protector remind us of those ancient cliff dwellings at Bandelier. The watchful owl with circular etched eyes is approximately 6 3/4" tall, 3 1/2" wide and 3 1/4" deep. The four darling owlets are carved from lovely varieties of found stone.
