By Sherdine Tsatte

Animal: Bushytail, Material: Soapstone
This offering is sold.
Soapstone has been used by Indigenous Peoples throughout the Western Hemisphere to create ceremonial objects, pipes and animal carvings among other things. Many artists love working with soapstone which is a type of metamorphic rock, because of its workable dense surface and soapy sort of texture. It is a popular choice for beginnining and advanced carvers. We're in love with Sherdine Tsatte's bushytail (Fox, Wolf or Coyote) sculpted from a rich soapstone to a size of approximately 3" long, 1" wide and 1 1/2" tall. The sweetest expression is conveyed through turquoise inlaid eyes. A lovely pipestone point offering bundle is attached. Sherdine is the mother of Loren Tsalabutie who is following in his late father Jeffery Tsalabutie's carving footsteps.
