Marvelous owls are biocontrol agents through the hunting of agricultural pests. They are called the Night Grandfather in Zuni because they watch over us as we sleep. Building a social awareness against superstitions will help in protecting owls now and into the future. Master carver Hudson Sandy's striking butterstone Owl is perched at approximately 2 5/8" tall, 2 1/8" wide and 1 1/4" deep. Plumage is exquisitely carved. A set of elegantly etched feathers rest as a gift on the perch, while an offering necklace is meticulously inlaid with turquoise and red coral. Piercing eyes are from jet in turquoise.
