Katsinas are central to Hopi Pueblo culture. They are called tithu or katsintithu, sacred powerful beings who bring lessons and blessings. Alvin Leon's miniature "Hopi Mudhead Drummers" is a trio of small dolls carved from cottonwood and intricately decorated with colorful acrylic paints, embroidery thread, soft sueded leather and feathers. The collectible woodwork including base measures roughly 4 1/4" tall, 3 3/8" wide and 3 1/4" deep. Signed by the artist.
