Derrick and Nichelle Edaakie bring Mother Earth home to you with their stunning pollinator Hummingbird necklace created in the challenging overlay inlay jewelry technique. This is where a top piece of sterling silver was laboriously sawed out to leave a negative space of design. Another piece of silver was annealed to it. Stones and shells were then meticulously inlaid bringing the artful scene to life framed by a stunning sky blue turquoise border. Colorful materials include turquoise, coral, gold lip shell, black lip shell, pen shell, abalone and mother-of-pearl. We love the bold hues of the red coral and the natural iridescence of the shells especially the watery abalone which serves the little bird's plumage well. The pen shell wings are beautifully etched too. The gorgeous flowers bring a sense of connection to the natural world. Including the handmade sterling silver chain, dimensions of this fabulous necklace are approximately 17 1/2" long. Measurements of all three panels together are about 2 5/8" long including bales and 3 7/8" wide. The elegantly-shaped stations are unified by handmade hinges that allow the necklace to conform to the neckline in an attractive manner. Signed by the artists.
