Rebecca Davis' charming watermelon serpentine Bear has a lovely alternating heartline or breath path from inlaid chip turquoise. The heartline traditionally represents the spirit and breath within the stone. Its meaning originates from Zuni tradition in which the Twin Sons of the Sun Father struck predators, which had been hunting and killing the The People, with lightning and turning them into stone. The Twins gave the animals instructions to help The People from that time on. Within the stone, the creatures were still alive and the heartline represents this spirit and breath. An offering bundle contains a matte slate point, turquoise, hematite, and perhaps tiger's eye or onyx beads, plus a single serpentine one. Measurements of this crushed turquoise-eyed bear are approximately 3 1/4" long, 1 1/4" wide and 2" tall.
