Katsinas are powerful and immortal spirits to the Hopi Pueblo People. They are called tithu or katsintithu, sacred supernatural beings who function as messengers between the spiritual worlds. Alvin Leon must have excellent eyesight. The tiny details on his miniature Hopi Mudhead katsina doll are astounding. The intricate woodwork is decorated with hand-painted colorful acrylic paints, embroidery thread, ribbon, cloth, pipe cleaner and feathers.
