Indigenous Peoples from the Pacific Northwest and California revere condors as beings of great spiritual power even giving dances to honor them. After the arrival of European colonizers, both Indigenous People and condors suffered genocidal attacks. The condors were shot or poisoned. Today the California condor is Critically Endangered. Lead ammunition fragments in dead animals poisons condors as they eat it which is the leading cause of death for them. We can help by keeping trash and micro trash fragments where they belong, away from wildlife as they are a choking hazard for young vultures. Hudson Sandy's phenomenal young California condor is carved from the prettiest of Picasso marbles and apple coral. Eyes are from jet in turquoise inlays and an offering necklace is from red coral and turquoise. Approximately 1 7/8" long, 7/8" wide and 2 1/8" tall.
