Zuni artist Maegan Shetima started carving at 16 years of age encouraged by her late cousin Kendell Shetima who told her everything has a spirit and that anything is possible. Her first carving was a howling Coyote. She shared "My work means a lot to me. I make everything with good vibes and good intentions, and all by hand."
You can just feel Maegan's heart, soul and uncompromising dedication to her art in an extraordinary Raven (or crow) pendant necklace. From skillfully etched plumage, to the smart corvid's bright eyes from clean turquoise inlays and sweet beaks, each silken jet carving reflects details of hard work and unique artistry.
The center bird is about 3" long, 1" wide and 7/8" tall. The other feathered friend's average from about 7/8" to 1 7/8" long, 1/4" to 5/8" wide and 1/4" to 3/4" deep. They're beautifully strung on delicious mother-of-pearl, turquoise and colorful spiny oyster shell beads to a total length of roughly 24 1/2", finished with a sterling silver lobster clasp closure.
