Jonas Hustito
Engaging in playful pose or practicing to be the top predator, Jonas Hustito's young puma (Mountain-lion, cougar or panther) is carved from jet and has a generously incised fur coat. We're adoring its long cork screw tail, smart eyes from inlaid turquoise and little whiskers. About 3 1/2" long, 7/8" wide and 1 3/8" tall.
Mountain-lions (pumas, panthers or cougars) are for the most part solitary but they do associate with other felines, especially when hunting and mating. Herbert Halate's exceptional fetish necklace and earrings set celebrates an ambush of mountain lions. They've been smoothly sculpted from jet and inlaid with discerning eyes from turquoise. The commanding center cat is about 2" long and 2 1/2" wide, while the other cats average from about 2" to 2 1/4" long. The overall length of this collectible fetish necklace is roughly 24" long. The complimenting earrings dangle at roughly 2" long including hooks and 2" wide. Both the earrings and necklace are strung with lovely turquoise beads. Herbert's father was carver Leonard Halate (d) who started producing fetishes in the 1940's. Herbert and his siblings, Reva Halate, Marvelita Phillips and Pansy Natachu, continue the tradition.
