Ulysses Mahkee began carving around 1985 learning from his brother-in-law Andres Quam. His wife Colleen assists him with the fetish polishing. His mother was Janie Mahkee (d), a wonderful jeweler. We're admiring Ulysses Bear fetish pendant necklace. Carved from red onyx in a strong, upright stance, this turquoise-eyed friend with a lot of personality is about 1 3/8" long, 5/8" wide and 1/2" deep. It's strung with heishe, dumortierite, jasper, turquoise and coral beads to a length of approximately 24".
