Bears are a spiritual and ecological force. They are considered powerful relatives by Indigenous cultures. Bears teach us qualities about protection, strength and healing. They are also forest managers whose foraging habits and mighty claws aerate the soil, while scat spreads vital seeds and contributes to nutrient cycling. Kyle Awelagte is from the greater Othole family of Zuni Pueblo artists. His father is Burt Awelagte. An offering bundle representing gratitude for bears has a nicely-sized amber bead which is the perfect compliment to the zebra stone specimen. This sweet Bear has turquoise inlaid eyes. About 1 5/8" long, 5/8" wide and 1 1/4" tall.
