Master carver Kateri Quandelacy Sanchez was a mere nine years old when she was taught to shape stones using only hand tools by her aunt, renowned Zuni artist Faye Quandelacy. Lucky for us the last 12 years have been dedicated to carving full time with Kateri garnering prestigious awards at SWAIA's Santa Fe Indian Market and The Heard Show in Arizona, among others. Sculpted from nicely weighty peacock ore, a turquoise-faced Corn-Maiden sways to the beat of the drum as her shawl conveys a wonderful sense of movement. She's embellished with a turquoise inlay. We love the captivating purple, teal and royal blue metallic hues natural to the rich mineral. About 4" tall, 3 1/2" wide and 2" deep.
