Justin Red Elk, Zuni-Sioux
is backordered. We will ship it separately when it becomes available.
Hummingbirds are Justin Red Elk's carving specialty. He is from the greater Leonard Halate (d) family of Zuni artists. His mother is carver Pansy Natachu. Justin's uncle and aunts are carvers Herbert Halate, Reva Halate and Marvelita Phillips, among many other great artists from this lineage. Jet inlaid eyes and a mother-of-pearl beak are part of this approximate 1 5/8" tall, 1/2" wide and 1 1/2" deep energetic bird of orange alabaster.
As the colder weather sets in, tiny Hummingbirds migrate to warmer places for the winter. When we hear the word migrate, we think of a flock of birds traveling together. But the tough little hummingbird makes this journey solo, quite an amazing feat. A bittersweet farewell, we look forward to their enchanted return in the spring season to open our hearts.
Brandon Phillips' hummingbird is one that warms our soul. It's been sweetly carved from serpentine with augite. Turquoise inlaid eyes and a shell beak are bestowed to this approximate 2 1/2" tall, 3/4" wide and 1 3/4" deep bird.
