Four
Corn-Maiden sisters are accompanied by star elements and colorful red coral inlays in Kateri Quandelacy Sanchez's reversible turquoise carving. Faces are from either iridescent mother-of-pearl or gold lip shell, etched and filled with jet paste. Corn Maidens saved the A:Shiwi (The People) from famine by nourishing them with sacred
corn kernels from their bodies. About 1 1/2" long, 5/8" deep and 2" tall.
