Gaspeite was described in 1966 after it was found in Quebec, Canada on the Gaspé Peninsula. The stone was named after the region. This rare nickel carbonate mineral is also mined in Western Australia. Aboriginal Indigenous cultures there have held it in high regard as a vision stone with healing properties. Brian Yatsattie's gorgeous gaspeite Bear can enhance any space with a good feeling because its refreshing green hues are cleansing like a breath of fresh air. Rich hematite is also found within this collectible bear carved by a master. Charming eyes are inlaid from jet. Nicely weighty, measurements are about 3 3/8" long, 2 5/8" tall and 1 1/8" wide.
