Caterpillars & Flowers Pottery

By Camille Bernal, Taos

Animal: Caterpillar, Material: Clay
This offering is sold.
Camille Bernal's pottery was created in celebration of beneficial caterpillars and the wild white phlox flowers that grow at Taos Pueblo. The caterpillar must be transformed into a butterfly, a pollinator. It cannot remain indefinitely in its original form because it will not survive. The natural yellow pigment seen in the caterpillar's bodies was found in a Taos canyon, while the soft blue color is a rare paint from the Laguna Pueblo area. The red accents on the caterpillars and flowers is a light catching micaceous red paint. All hand formed and hand painted of natural clay and paints, about 3 1/2" tall and 4" in diameter.
