The Zuni Mountains are a source of the green copper mineral malachite alongside azurite. Zunis have traditionally carved with malachite, a mineralogical cousin of turquoise. This verdant stone is said to open the figurative heart while healing properties are attributed to it. Melvin Eriacho's gorgeous Snake is sculpted from a found malachite from Zuni country. He's known for carving wonderful animals from natural indigenous materials. Gorgeously coiled, this jet-eyed reptile is approximately 2" long, 1 3/4" wide and 3/4" tall.
