Frogs are important in Zuni worldview, often depicted on prayer bowls. Many of the prayers and traditional dances ask for water in the form of rain or snow. Water creatures like frogs and fishes need water to survive and are an important indicator of environmental changes like pollution and climate change. Their disappearance is a warning sign something is wrong. Carved from refreshing azurite, Ricky Laahty's frog and hidden fish friend measure about 2 1/8" long, 1 1/2" wide and 1/2" tall. They each have realistic eyes created by Ricky, it is a trade secret.
