Intriguing bornite is an ore mineral of copper known for its iridescent tarnish often referred to as peacock ore. A desirable weightiness is felt when held and an array of metallic-like blue, green, purple, orange and turquoise hues are visually pleasing. The spectrum of shimmering colors are said to bring joy and a sense of well-being. Kateri Quandelacy Sanchez's textural Corn-maiden has been hewn from a great portion of peacock ore. An overlaid gold lip shell face is etched and filled with jet paste. A turquoise cabochon adorns her corn body. About 3" tall, 2 1/2" wide and 1 3/4" deep.
