Sgraffito is a decorative art form where a surface layer is cut or etched away to expose a different colored ground. Nelson Yatsattie utilized this age-old technique of ornamentation to create a pair of furry Bison. We love mother's extended tail creatively expressing protective love for her baby. The parent's mane is so lush it cascades clear down to the hoof area. Sculpted from one portion of black marble, the powerful mother buffalo and calf together measure approximately 5 1/2" long, 1 1/4" wide and 2" tall. Eyes are from turquoise inlays.

Bison are strong shouldered, down to earth in power, energy and spirit. Kenric Laiwakete's turquoise-eyed buffalo has been carved from intriguing Silverado jet. It is unique to the jet family because it's a mineraloid with pyrite inclusions giving it a wonderful lustrous quality. Jet is a compact fossilized black coal. Either side of this amazing fetish is inlaid with heartlines or breath paths from turquoise. One side shows an alternating heartline, while the reverse side hosts a magnificent triple heartline. Plowing head first through a mighty snowstorm are powerful Bison gracing Anthony Lovato's tufa cast sterling silver and Sleeping Beauty turquoise cuff bracelet. It was lovingly created in the labor-intensive tufa cast method. This is an exacting jewelry process involving cutting a tufa stone in half, smoothing out both surface sides, etching a sprue hole on top, then carefully carving out these buffalo in which Anthony poured in molten sterling silver. The gorgeous Sleeping Beauty turquoise cabochon compliments this work of wearable art in a truly colorful way. Inside this comfortable cuff bracelet, is Anthony's signature along with inspiring Horses. This collectible cuff bracelet's entire inner circumference is about 6" which includes the opening of about 1 1/4". Please click here for help in determining wrist size.
