The Caja del Rio Plateau and White Rock Canyon near Cochiti Pueblo are some of the ancient ancestral sites where old canyons hold sacred symbols of traditional beliefs, history, migration and astronomical observances on rocks that mainstream society calls petroglyphs. Owls and other wildlife are depicted among the spiritually important images. Salvador Romero's etched-eyed tufted raptor emits a deep resonant hoot, carved from found stone to approximately 3" tall, 2 1/8" wide and 1 1/2" deep.
