Hummingbirds are found only in the western hemisphere. Indigenous stories about these tiny warrior birds abound. For some pueblo cultures, hummingbirds are associated with rain gathering. For other Indigenous societies, hummingbirds are connected to the afterlife. They are viewed as dead ancestors and it is improper to harm them. Brandon Phillips' rusty orange alabaster Hummingbird has graceful contours to a size of approximately 2 1/2" tall, 1/2" wide and 1 1/4" deep. Eyes are from sky-blue turquoise, while a pointy beak is from shell.
