Freddie Leekya's grandfather was the iconic artist Leekya Deyuse who produced some of the finest carvings in Zuni Pueblo. His brothers are noted artists Delvin Leekya and Hayes Leekya. Badger goes about its business through turquoise eyes, an adorable pen shell nose and a red coral tongue. Little ears are softly sculpted. A handsome sgraffito-etched coat has striking stripes filled with jet paste. Just an all-around wonderful carving that measures about 2 7/8" long, 1" wide and 1 1/4" tall.
