Noted Zuni artist Bryston Bowannie recently shared that since 1988, he's carved over 100 different animals in his carving lifetime. When he was younger, he painted with watercolors. One of his go-to painting subjects was of sacred Dowa Yalanne or Corn Mountain with a Sunface rising over the top and pottery in the foreground. His latest offering is a darling pony sculpted from picture jasper. Ready to rest its head on you, this charming equine with loving eyes from turquoise inlays is about 1 7/8" long, 3/4" wide and 2 3/4" tall. A long tail and luxurious mane are well-kept.
