Turtle is a sacred symbol of the earth to many Indigenous cultures, commonly associated with self-reliance when navigating through life's difficulties. This gorgeous piece by Hiram Peynetsa was carved from black marble with magnificent sgraffito incising on the carapace. Eyes from inlaid turquoise give the turtle an intense vision. About 1 3/4" long, 1 1/2" wide and 3/8" tall.
