The New Mexico whiptail is a female-only species of lizard found in New Mexico, other areas in the southwest and in northern Mexico. It is the official state reptile of New Mexico too. Perhaps Zuni Pueblo artist Nelson Yatsattie's gorgeous reptile might be in the whiptail family or other
Lizard species. Smoothly sculpted from a cloudy serpentine, dimensions of this dreamy friend are about 4 5/8" long, 1" wide and 1/2" tall. Vigilant eyes are from turquoise inlays and claws are sgraffito etched.
