This offering is sold.
Freddie Leekya's grandfather Leekya Deyuse (d) was known for his unusual carvings of human figures among other wonderful subjects. Standing at about 4 1/2" tall, 1 1/4" wide and 1 3/4" deep, Freddie's collectible Zuni travertine flute player harkens back to the artistry of his grandfather. This work also honors the integral role flutists have in traditional Indigenous music. The drilled flute is from carved cedar wood tipped with turquoise. Eyes are inlaid with pen shell, while a spectacular headdress has turquoise accents on the end of the etched feathers. A gorgeous little necklace has turquoise, silver and other wonderful beads. The soles of his shoes are overlaid with pen shell and clothing is inlaid with turquoise accents. Don't miss this fetish treasure.
