In preparation for dances that give gratitude for the season's bounty, Carl Etsate's iridescent abalone Tablita Corn Maiden wears a traditional tablita headdress. Bodily Corn kernels are incised and decorated with pen shell, turquoise and red coral pieces. Turquoise eyes show discernment and a voice of wisdom is represented by a coral inlay. Long hair that is beautifully incised imparts strength. Crushed turquoise on the lovely Picasso marble base represents life giving water. Measurements in their entirety are approximately 2 3/8" tall, 1" wide and 5/8" deep.
