Animal: Parrot, Material: Bumblebee Jasper
This offering is sold.

Bumblebee jasper comes from the volcano Mount Papandayan in Indonesia. The bright orange hues are otherworldly but originate from deep within a fiery cauldron of our own. Loren Tsalabutie's inquiring parrot with a wonderful beak and tiny eyes from turquoise inlays has been fashioned from invigorating bumblebee jasper. A stunning orange section captivates. Ancient Pueblo stories include parrots or macaws. They symbolize the sun and are associated with the summer season and salt gathering, among other reasons. For the A:Shiwi (The People) many birds are believed to carry prayers to the sky and clouds, asking for blessings and rainfall. Exotic parrots have been part of North American Indigenous cultures due to the advanced and extensive trade system that existed since the beginning. About 1 7/8" tall, 1" wide and 2 3/4" deep.
