Stegosaurus were large and heavily built herbivorous dinosaurs that once roamed Mother Earth during the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods. Many of their fossils were found in the state of Colorado consequently the Stegosaurus is the official state dinosaur. Infamous diamond-shaped back plates were probably used for regulating body temperature and to attract a mate. Alexander Chavez's rendition of this fascinating plant-eating creature is from jet where rugged edging works beautifully for the back plates. Turquoise inlays and eyes adorn this approximately 2" long, 3/8" wide and 1 1/2" tall iconic dinosaur.
