For A:Shiwi (The People) there are Six Directions in life each with an assigned color and animal. Long ago the Father of Medicine Societies Po-shai-an-kia established predatory animals as guardians of the Six Directions each associated with a different color. They are regarded as healing and protective. Fitz and Marlo Kiyite's angelite Bear Directional carving consists of a pipestone Badger, a fish rock serpentine Mountain-lion, a jet Mole, a Picasso marble Eagle and a marble Wolf. The bear has etched eyes filled with jet paste. Dimensions in their entirety are about 1 1/2" long, 1" wide and 1 5/8" tall.
