Hudson Sandy is an extraordinary artist because each animal fetish he creates has a realistic quality and amazing spirit. Masterfully carved from Archaen butterstone, a horned Lizard quietly awaits a red ant meal studying through piercing jet in turquoise eyes. We love Hudson's creative use of the stone by allowing the darker area to emphasize an armored head. Elegant inlays from red coral and turquoise adorn the length of precisely etched scales.
Horned lizards are becoming more and more rare these days. It is always a treat to come across one on the trail, as if discovering a treasure. We can help by not destroying native Harvester red ant piles and the ants themselves as they are a primary food source for horned lizards. Indigenous cultures hold them as sacred. One of the reasons why is because of an incredible ability to squirt blood from the corner of their eyes. About 2" long, 2" wide and 1 1/2" tall.
