A cheerful garden blue jay is perched on a red rose branch in Sammy and Esther Guardian's stunning pendant. Handmade in the overlay inlay jewelry technique, experience and patience in both lapidary and silversmithing skills are required for a successful presentation. The sterling silver started out as a sheet laboriously sawed out to leave a negative space of design. Another piece of silver was annealed to it. Colorful stones, shells and other materials such as turquoise, malachite, coral, mother-of-pearl and perhaps a yellow glass were meticulously hand cut and inlaid bringing this approximately 2 1/2" long and 1 5/8" collectible piece to life.
