Lynn Quam descends from the late Johnny Quam and Westika family of wonderful Zuni artists. His siblings include the late carvers Rhoda Quam and Pernell Gasper, as well as jeweler Nancy Westika. Their mother was noted jeweler Annie Gasper Quam who also learned to make animal carvings from her father Johnny Quam. Sculpted from a beautifully busy Picasso marble, a turquoise-eyed Medicine-Bear is inlaid with a Zuni Sunface symbol which represents the elements in balance. Soft green turquoise, jet and coral are set stone to stone on one side of this approximately 3 1/2" long, 3/4" wide and 2 1/4" tall piece. The reverse side is inlaid with a turquoise heartline or breath path.
