For some Pueblo cultures in New Mexico, the red-tailed hawk is known as a red Eagle. For the A:Shiwi (The People) a Hawk is considered to be the little brother to eagle. Red-tailed hawks have a unique coat of brownish feathers shaped like a V. They are monogamous, mating for life. Carved from found stone, Wilson Romero's minimal hawk is a beauty at approximately 4" tall, 3/4" wide and 2 1/4" from nose to tail. Large eyes signifying great vision and plumage are etched.
