In a sacred Indigenous Inuit creation story, the intelligent Raven was born out of the darkness. After flying and experiencing the world, he understood that he was the Raven Father, Creator of All Life. Gathering up power and strength, he flew to a new place called Earth. Alone, he decided to create plant life. He then came upon a human, the first of the Inuit. Raven fed and taught the man to respect all creation around him. Shortly after, a woman came to be and Raven taught them how to live, build shelter and make canoes to travel the waterways. As the first human couple had children, Raven cared for their little ones too, educating them. Salvador Romero's wonderful Raven reminds us of this ancient story. About 5 1/2" long, 1" wide and 2 1/2" tall, carved from found stone.
