Zuni Pueblo tradition says that during the old-days Corn-Maidens saved The People from famine and drought by nourishing them with the sacred corn kernels from their bodies. Remembering the beauty of this teaching comes in the form of a Corn Maiden fetish pendant by Carl Etsate. Gracefully shaped from iridescent abalone with a shimmering rainbow sheen, measurements are about 3 1/4" long including silver bale and 1/2" wide. Eyes are from inlaid turquoise and a red coral inlay represents a voice of wisdom. Further inlay accents include jet, turquoise and more red coral.
