By Dee Edaakie

Animal: Mountain Lion, Material: Pyrite
This offering is sold.
Nodules of pyrite have been discovered in ancient burials suggesting they were used to start fires because when pyrite is struck by metal, sparks are produced. In fact, the name pyrite comes from the Greek word pyr, meaning fire. Dee Edaakie's turquoise-eyed feline (panther, puma, cougar or Mountain-lion) is carved in the old-style, with the tail up and over the backside. The pyrite is gorgeous with a nice weightiness in hand and a bit of metallic purple and magenta on the tail region. About 2 3/8" long, 3/4" wide and 1 1/4" tall.
