Traditionally ollas or pottery jars would be used to transport important things like corn meal or water balanced on the head by skilled Zuni women. Carved from one gorgeous picture jasper specimen, tiny branch red coral pieces are held in the olla resembling delicious dried red chile pods. Facial features are etched in gold lip shell and filled with jet paste. Green turquoise accents are inlaid. Olla Maiden measures approximately 2 3/4" tall, 7/8" wide and 5/8" deep, by Kateri Quandelacy Sanchez. Our Keshi gallery will be hosting Kateri and her aunt Sandra Quandelacy on Friday, August 15, 2025 from 3 to 5 pm for a wonderful showing, please join us for this annual tradition during Market season.
