With a background in geo-engineering from New Mexico Tech, it's no wonder Zuni artist Todd Westika finds the choicest rocks and minerals to work with. He learned the art of animal carving from his late aunt Rhoda Quam. Here is a gorgeous calcite nodule specimen fashioned into an old-style Mountain-lion (cougar, puma, panther) with a long tail up and over the backside. Cognizant eyes are from lovely sterling silver inlays. A handsome turquoise point with branch red coral and textured silver beads compose the offering bundle secured to the side of this approximately 3" long, 5/8" wide and 1 1/8" tall work of art.
