By James Panteah

Animal: Owl, Material: Chrysocolla
This offering is sold.

James Panteah's lively chrysocolla Owl focuses through jet inlaid eyes. Owls move their heads instead of their eyes, to view their environment. The Zuni Pueblo people call an owl the Night Grandfather perhaps because like a wise elder, an owl uses knowledge and good judgment seeing what others cannot. James' parents are carvers Abby and Clayton Panteah. His brother is carver Silvan Panteah. They are from the greater Hustito and Lowsayatee family of noted Zuni artists. About 1 3/4" tall, 1 3/4" wide and 1 3/8" deep.
