Night Owls On Jack-O'-Lantern

By Maegan Shetima

This offering is sold.

In medieval Britain, folks went door to door asking for food in exchange for a prayer for the dead. They carried hollow-out turnip lanterns with little candles inside symbolizing a soul trapped in purgatory or to ward off evil spirits. During the 1800s in North America, pumpkins replaced turnips because they were bountiful and easy to carve out. Maegan Shetima's Owl pair perches on a jack-o'-lantern detailed with jet paste facial features. The wonderful horned raptors have amazing jet in gold lip shell eyes. Dimensions of this spooktacular Hestermanite carving are about 2 1/4" tall, 1 1/4" wide and 1 1/4" deep.
