The Hopi People believe Katsinas bring harmony in nature, beneficial rainfall, good crops, fertility and successful hunting. They are various masked ancestral spirits who come during Hopi religious dances. Hopi Soyal Katsina is also known as Return Katsina and usually arrives in December. Soyal Katsina is an essential part of the Soyal Solstice Ceremony symbolizing the second phase of Creation at the Dawn of Life.
