Miniature Hopi Hemis Katsina Doll

Adrian Leon has been carving exquisite katsina dolls for more than 40 years. A self-taught artist, he says it comes naturally to him, "I didn’t have to go learn it, it was already there in my mind. If I get a piece of wood, I can carve it." A miniature standing woodwork represents the Hopi Hemis Katsina. The tiny details are wonderful, including the feathers, pipe cleaner and yarn. He is holding a tiny wooden rattle and embroidery thread which represents a sprig of evergreen branches. Including the base, this collectible cottonwood katsina doll is approximately 3 3/8" tall, 1 1/4" wide and 1" deep. Signed by the artist.
