Horse has a lot of layers. The stone, Kona Dolomite, is ancient, one of the oldest stones in the world, and has healing properties are attributed to it. The stone has fossils in it of blue-green algae, some of the first life on earth, 2.1 to 2.2 billion years old. That this stone came through the Zuni Pueblo and ended up with Saul Yuselew (d), a presser and healer in Zuni, was no accident. It was unusual for Saul to carve horses. His grandson, Bryson Bobelu, helped him with it as Saul lost his sight in his later years.Bryson was in my sixth grade class in Zuni in 1981. I knew when I saw this horse that I would cherish it for years. And I have. The tiny horse measures about 3" long and 2 1/4" tall.
