Brilliant blue and green colors move beneath the surface of this labradorite Bear by Cheryl Beyuka. Labradorite is found in many places around the world but got its name from being noted in the Labrador region of Canada. Indigenous Nations in the area already knew of the material prior to "discovery" and referred to it as fire stone. Inquisitive eyes are from jet inlays. An offering bundle give thanks in the form of lapis lazuli, carnelian and other lovely beads. Bears have powers that we do not and are revered by Pueblo cultures. They are the most prevalent subject of Zuni fetish carvings. This lovely bear measures about 1 1/2" long, 1" wide by 1 1/8" tall.
