Wonderful woodpeckers are the ultimate headbangers as they endure high-impact forces without damaging their brains because of specially-designed skulls with built-in shock absorbers. The cavities they create in trees are repurposed by other woodland friends such as birds and squirrels. They keep Mother Earth's trees healthy by consuming great quantities of wood-boring insects managing pest infestations.
