Dragonfly Pottery Bowl

By Jaycee Nahohai

This offering is sold.

In many Zuni homes pottery bowls similar to this stepped-edge one are used to store ceremonial cornmeal. They are known by many names: prayer bowl, cloud bowl and cornmeal bowl. Noted potter Jaycee Nahohai's hand-coiled natural clay pottery bowl honors the Dragonfly (Shumak'olo:wa), a messenger who carries prayers. Micaceous paint adds a delightful sparkle to this approximately 5 1/4" long, 5 1/4" wide and 3 1/4" tall collectible piece. Signed by the artist.
